A French Treasure in Uptown Park.

One can pretty much assume from a name like Étoile Cuisine et Bar that something French is happening inside. What one might not assume is how French and how excellent. Within months of opening in Houston’s Uptown Park, it developed a legion of not just Francophiles but lovers of great food of all kinds. The husband/wife owners, Master Chef of France Philippe Verpiand and Monica Bui, have created a restaurant with an amazingly accessible, modern, and unassuming take on French cuisine, creating a farmhouse-inspired space with no pretension, yet continually producing classic and seasonal French fare. Complemented by a carefully crafted wine list and imaginative bar program, Étoile Cuisine et Bar is, as one writer described it, “a fresh, pretty island of calm.”
